Aikido

The word Aikido is formed from 3 Japanese words (ai - harmony; ki - Spirit; do - way), and can be translated as "the Way of Harmonious Spirit". A Japanese martial art developed in the 1930s, it is a sport of bare hands and cold weapons, its principal aim being self mastery rather than combat itself. Attainment levels are indicated by belts of various colours: white for beginners, a range of colours for intermediate levels, and black, with the various dans (from first to tenth), for experts. Post some photos and video clips of yourself in action to share with your friends, and add some details about your current level and belt colour.
